There are hundreds of suppliers, including trading companies and manufacturers, on both Alibaba.com and Globalsources.com.
Alibaba's website lists more than 958,000 products and 1,170 suppliers under the pet products category.
The same search on Globalsources.com yields more than 59,800 products and 3,259 suppliers.
You can be sure that there are manufacturers of various pet products online.

With the exception of pet food, there are few mandatory safety standards specifically applicable to pet toys and accessories.
However, as Intertek explains in this white paper, pet product regulations are currently being developed.
In fact, New York State has introduced a bill.
So, what does this mean for pet product importers?
a. Chemical and heavy metal regulations will be enacted
b. Labeling and documentation requirements may apply
c. Laboratory testing may become mandatory
That said, there are some non-pet product specific regulations that do apply:
a.REACH is mandatory in the EU and applies to all products.
b. All products sold in the United States must be labeled “Made in China”
c. Textile labeling requirements may apply
d.Additional regulations apply to all electronic products regardless of their purpose
There are a few things you can already do:
a. Ensure compliance with REACH and/or CA Prop 65
b. Ensure your products are labeled correctly and all mandatory documents are published
c. Submit product samples for compliance testing
In general, pet products are not as tightly regulated as children's products, electronics, or even food contact materials.
What should I look for when choosing a supplier online?
First, you need to look at the categories. If you are planning to purchase a stainless steel dog crate, be sure to find a supplier that specializes in this product. Stay away from traders who have nothing to offer. Even though it's still within the pet product space.
Secondly, you should also consider suppliers who:
a. Registered capital of more than 2 million yuan
b.ISO 9001 certification
c.BSCI or Sedex registration
Environmental management and certification are also increasingly important in China. Ask your supplier if they can provide an ISO 14001 certificate.
QC Programns
Pre-shipment quality inspection is mandatory when importing various products from China and other parts of Asia.
That said, quality inspection of pet products can be quite complex.
For example, an inspector must simulate how a cat or dog would use a certain toy.
The testing standards used for children's toys (i.e. ASTM or ISO) are not sufficient for pet toys, nor are the accessories due to the extreme wear and tear of pet toys.
While this may not require advanced equipment, it is critical that you instruct your agents on how to perform all tests to properly "simulate" normal wear and tear.
Minimum order quantity requirements
Minimum order quantity requirements are usually set on a per-product basis.
Here are some examples:
Dog bath towels: 10,000 pieces
Large dog beds: 100
Biodegradable dog poop bag rolls: 100,000 rolls
Cat trees: 80
GPS pet tracker: 500 pcs
As you may have noticed, for more expensive and bulky items (like cat trees or dog beds), the minimum order quantity is lower.
Many suppliers are willing to offer lower MOQs for your first order, or permanently lower MOQs if you use standard materials and colors.
